The 24VDC power supplies used in DCS systems mainly include: 1. Power supply for cards, 2. Power supply for safety barriers or isolation barriers, 3. Power supply for the FF network segment, 4. Power supply for relays, 5. Power supply for field solenoids. These are the main types I can think of; I’m not sure how to divide them when configuring the power supply modules Also, how should the capacity of the power supply module be considered? Let’s discuss it together.
In our factory, for each of the 1_2_4 types of loads you mentioned, there are two dedicated power supply modules. Two 220V circuits are connected to the circuit breakers of each power supply module, and the outputs of the primary and backup power supply modules are connected in parallel
Normally, when performing maintenance in a factory, such issues are not encountered; they only need to be taken into consideration when setting up a configuration scheme for a new system. After all, the power supply system is still a very important component. From the perspective of decentralized security, it would be appropriate to configure each type of power module separately, but this increases costs. I’m curious to know how people consider this issue when designing systems.
Generally, the power supply for card modules is calculated separately, with a dedicated power source provided for them. Safety gates, relays, and solenoids can share the same power source; it’s better to provide a dedicated one however, as there is less contact in the FF network segment.
