When creating PID diagrams, do process engineers refer to the opinions of instrument technicians when selecting monitoring points and control strategies? As instrument technicians, what suggestions and insights should be provided regarding their processes?
Process tips: Instruments can at most be used to determine Reasonableness. Of course, constructive suggestions are also welcome!
We have never been heavily involved; at most, we would ask questions such as the order of valves and flow meters, or whether a control valve is needed – but we don’t make any decisions.
