How is a pH meter calibrated? What is the ratio of the standard solutions used? What issues should be considered during routine maintenance?
In our department, we generally use standard solutions of 4.01 and 6.86 to calibrate pH meters. We also pay attention to regular inspections of the instruments, addressing any issues that arise promptly
First, rinse the carbon rod in clean water. Once its temperature is roughly the same as that of the standard solution, place the carbon rod in the pH 7 solution. Use the menu button to select ‘Calibrate’, then press the enter button to locate the sensor and press enter again. When the sensor in the first buffer and the screen display 2POINT BUFFER IN 1ST SOLUTION, press the enter key. When the screen displays PT=7.00PH, remove the first buffer, rinse the probe in clean water, then place it in the second solution. Press the enter key; when the screen shows PT=4.00PH, press the enter key again to return to the main menu

Reply to 4# qugd: Hello, perhaps the models are different, and their internal structures also vary; in our factory, the probe is located at the lower end.
Those manufactured pH meters are more reliable and easier to maintain.
Hey, the original poster, I’m asking you what’s going on with that carbon rod? I’m familiar with pH electrodes; what I’m not clear about is the carbon rod you mentioned
Reply to 7# qugd: He probably meant “probe”, not “carbon rod”; it’s the electrode you mentioned, and he just made a mistake. Don’t take it too seriously!
Now there are also electrodes made of carbon rods, but they’re all glass now
LS, the electrodes are not necessarily made of glass; there are other materials as well
