A problem that occurs frequently and is hard to understand is the formation of salt crystals at the connection point where chlorine enters the decontamination tower. According to a friend, this might be caused by excessively high operating temperatures or a high concentration of caustic soda solution; however, since these two parameters are currently within normal ranges, this issue still persists. The heat generated by the reaction cannot be carried away; crystallization and salt formation occur when the temperature exceeds 60 degrees. The temperature of the circulating alkaline solution is usually between 22 and 26 degrees

Since Cl2 + 2NaOH = NaCl + NaClO + H2O + 25.31kcal/mol is an exothermic reaction, the heat generated by the reaction must be removed promptly. Otherwise, the temperature of the alkali solution being absorbed will rise, leading to the following side reaction: 3NaClO = NaClO3 + 2NaCl. The resulting crystals can cause blockages in pipes, heat exchangers, and liquid distributors.
Clean the tower regularly. And minimize air entering the deodorization tower.

The temperature must not exceed 40 degrees; otherwise, sodium hypochlorite decomposes into chlorine gas and salt, which can cause problems. The concentration should not exceed 15%, otherwise salt crystals are likely to form. What are your values for these two indicators? You didn’t mention them

It might be due to operational issues; the liquid level rising could cause excess liquid to enter. A diagonal backflow stopper can be installed on the main chlorine inlet pipe, and flushing should be carried out during shutdown. A drain point should also be added at the lower part of the inlet pipe
