What is butt welding?

Threaded connection is a widely used detachable fastening method that offers advantages such as simple structure, reliable bonding, and easy installation and removal; see the attached diagram
The image is gone. . . . . Welded pipe connections: 1. Flange connections, which include flat-face flanges, ring-type flanges, and welded flanges. Flanges are welded to both ends of the pipes and connected with bolts. There are also pipes that are welded directly; the ends of such pipes must have 45° notches cut into them
BW: Butt welding, with the two grooves welded directly to each other. NPT: Threaded connection, a direct connection between internal and external threads.
I’m confused; I don’t know what the differences are or how to classify them
