I just finished working on a project and had contact with several construction companies. In my opinion, Sinopec’s Shihua Construction is quite good – they are professional. Taiyuan’s Huaer Construction isn’t that great, though they do have plenty of financial resources; the workers there don’t cause many problems. Jiuhua Construction from the Northeast also has limited capabilities; it’s made up of two different groups of workers, and there’s a big difference in their skill levels, which can be seen from the quality of the work done on site. The air separation is done by Sichuan Airlines; the site where I am working isn’t that great. In other words, today’s projects are all carried out through successive subcontracts; no matter how large a project is, it is still built on site by laborers who lay bricks one by one. The quality of work done by a company can vary greatly from one site to another, and luck plays a role in that. By joining a more professional team, the owner and the design institute can avoid many troubles; but if you end up with amateurs, there will be endless problems.
