Our company has a storage tank containing a liquid with high viscosity, possibly around 1000 poise. The liquid in the tank is sent to other devices through an outlet, via a pressure pump; after the pressure pump there is a filter, and after that another metering pump, which controls the flow rate of the liquid. My question is: Is it possible to not use a booster pump and a metering pump at the same time? Place the booster pump directly in front of the filter, and achieve the purpose of transportation through flow control (for example, by using an FC control point to regulate the speed of the booster pump or the opening degree of the control valve on the pipeline)?
Theoretically, it’s possible, but you need to consult with the flow meter manufacturer to determine whether such a flow meter can measure the flow rate of your material accurately
I agree with the opinion above; however, this might also be due to cost considerations. A metering pump with lower precision is likely to be more expensive than a flow meter, and flow meters are delicate devices that break easily and are difficult to repair.
Metering pumps generally have very low flow rates; it is difficult to measure the flow with a flow meter, and it is hard to control them using control valves
A booster pump and a metering pump must be used simultaneously; otherwise, metering cannot be achieved. Can you use a high-precision gear metering pump to carry out both boosting and metering functions?
