Distillation tower combining packing and plates

Our company has a plate distillation column that we would like to use for another purpose, but its height is not sufficient. We are considering adding a filler section to this plate column; have any of you seen something like this before? If it can be used this way, should a packing be used in the distillation section? I hope everyone will discuss it.

If it becomes more and more complicated as it’s modified, it’s better not to make any changes; after all, such cases are rare, and it could be completely replaced with a packed tower
