We are building a facility for the recycling of used mineral oil, and we have encountered a rather difficult problem at the moment; please offer your suggestions. The design is as follows: Since the used oil is packaged in 180 kg iron drums, upon arrival at the site it is placed in a receiving warehouse. The transfer from these drums to larger tanks is done manually by pouring the oil into transfer funnels, and once it enters the underground tanks, it is pumped into the raw material storage tanks. But there is a problem with this method nowadays: due to the large volume, around 600 barrels per day, the workload is extremely high and efficiency is low. I would appreciate it if everyone could discuss whether another way of unloading oil could be used, one that would improve efficiency while also reducing the workload

A screw pump or gear pump can be used for unloading; there is no risk of vacuum formation, and unloading can proceed over an extended period of time. A small pump is sufficient – one with a flow rate of 15–20 liters per hour will do. Multiple branch connectors can be welded to the inlet, allowing several 6-mm rubber hoses to be connected, thereby enabling the unloading of multiple barrels at once. So this is how we discharge the coagulant.
Reply to 6# Great idea! The pump can be placed on a mobile trolley, which saves time and effort in transporting the iron barrels; all that’s needed is to push the pump cart. Thank you!

The idea upstairs is good, but what if the used oil is very dirty and contains impurities such as residue or metal shavings?
Put some wire mesh at the entrance in an elliptical shape to cover that area; it can help with filtering. I’ve seen others do this.
