According to data from the Inner Mongolia Energy Development Bureau, during the 11th Five-Year Plan period, breakthrough progress was made in the clean and efficient conversion and utilization of coal in Inner Mongolia, with the first sets of facilities for the five new coal chemical demonstration projects in the country all being built there. **The construction of five pilot projects for new coal chemical processes, such as coal-to-oil, coal-to-olefins, coal-to-dimethyl ether, coal-to-methane gas, and coal-to-ethylene glycol, holds strategic significance. At present, projects such as Shenhua’s 1.08 million-ton direct coal-to-oil project, Yitai’s 160,000-ton indirect coal-to-oil project, Wulanchabu Newao’s 500,000 cubic meter underground methane extraction and gasification project without wells, Shenhua Baotou’s 600,000-ton coal-to-olefins project, Tongliao Jinmei’s 200,000-ton coal-to-ethylene glycol project, and Jutai Zhungeer’s 1 million-ton coal-to-methanol and 100,000-ton coal-to-dimethyl ether project have all been completed and put into operation. The 4 billion cubic meters coal-to-gas project in Keshiketeng Datang and the 1.6 billion cubic meters project in Ordos HuiNeng have been **approved and construction has begun.
