What is the typical chloride ion content in the crude syngas produced by water-coal slurry gasification? Has it had any impact on the device? Are there specific measures for handling this?
The presence of chloride ions is highly harmful to methanol catalysts, as it can poison them. There are now dechlorination agents available to remove chloride ions; generally, a dechlorination tower is installed at the inlet of the methanol synthesis process, filled with such dechlorination agents, to carry out dechlorination and protect the methanol catalyst!
