The technological upgrade project for polysilicon at Zhongneng Silicon Industry has made phased progress

Recently, the capacity expansion project for producing 39,000 tons per year of electronic-grade polysilicon at Zhongneng Silicon Industry in Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone has made progress; two new production lines have been put into operation, while another two are under installation. They are scheduled to start operating on January 1, 2012, with full capacity to be achieved by March 28. It is understood that this technical upgrade project utilizes an advanced electron-grade polysilicon production technology developed independently to modernize the existing polysilicon production lines. It focuses on improving the processes involved in reduction, distillation, exhaust gas treatment, and chlorohydration in the original Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 production lines, as well as optimizing these processes, thereby enabling the recycling of waste materials and achieving organic circulation. After the renovation, the overall electricity consumption per kilogram of polysilicon will decrease significantly, and the production cost of polysilicon will fall below $20 per kilogram, reaching or exceeding international advanced levels. It is expected that once the new projects are fully operational next year, the annual production volume will reach 65,000 tons, ranking first in the world.
