How to get started with self-control

I need to master knowledge of automatic control recently. How should I get started? What materials should I study or how should I think about the issues?
Field instruments, process knowledge – and then automatic control becomes relatively simple; that’s how I progressed.
If you want to study industrial process control, it is recommended to first read books on process control to understand how basic control loops work (such as air-operated on/off valves, etc.), and also read books on instruments to learn about the four main parameters and the types of instruments used for measuring them. Then learn about DCS stuff. As for control algorithms, knowing PID is the most basic requirement.
