I’m new to gasification and have a question: what is the function of the toothed section at the very bottom of the downcomer in a four-nozzle gasification furnace?
Bubble breaker... prevents the formation of large bubbles in the water bath, which can improve gas washing efficiency and cooling effects, among other things……

The toothed section at the very bottom of the downcomer in the four-nozzle gasifier is identical to that of Texaco’s design; those responsible for developing the four-nozzle version probably didn’t fully understand Texaco’s intentions and simply copied it. This issue may need to be explained by GE’s experts.
Reply to 5# chinglq: Don’t pretend to know everything. A four-nozzle quench chamber uses defoaming strips to stabilize the liquid level in the gasification furnace, while eliminating the rise pipe reduces water entrainment in the gasification furnace. Does GE have such a design?
