The oil and gas region favored by global investors this year: A recent annual global oil survey published by the Canadian think tank Fraser Institute shows that Mississippi has become the most favored oil and gas region among global investors this year. This is the fifth annual survey report by the FISCHA Society. The report primarily ranks the investment attractiveness of various oil and gas production regions around the world, based on a scoring system that evaluates 17 factors related to upstream oil and gas exploration and extraction investments, including fiscal and tax systems, management costs, political stability, and safety. This year’s survey report was completed by 502 participants from 478 companies, who assessed the investment attractiveness in the oil and gas sector across 136 ** and regions. The companies participating in the survey allocated approximately $300 billion to exploration and development activities in the upstream oil and gas sector in 2010, which represents over 60% of the total global investment in this sector. The survey report shows that Mississippi has become the most favored oil and gas production area among global investors. In last year’s survey, Mississippi ranked sixth among the 133 regions on the list. In this year’s rankings, Ohio comes in second place, while Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia, the Dutch North Sea, Alabama, Hungary, and North Dakota occupy positions three through ten respectively.
