Sinopec and East China University of Science and Technology sign a cooperation agreement on gasification technology

On August 10, Sinopec Corporation and East China University of Science and Technology signed a technical cooperation agreement on single-nozzle cold-wall pressurized coal gasification (SE) technology in Beijing. Dai Houliang, Senior Vice President of the joint-stock company, attended the signing ceremony. This technical cooperation plays a positive role in accelerating the development of the coal chemical industry in China, facilitating the rapid translation of research achievements from universities into industrial applications and promoting technological progress in related industries in our country. It is reported that the single-nozzle cold-wall coal gasification technology is one of the most representative pressurized fluidized bed technologies at the current stage, and pilot tests as well as the development of industrial-scale process packages have been completed.
Reply 1# xuqinger Congratulations. This must be the legendary Eastern Furnace. Several years ago, CNOOC began to use this technology in the Tianye and Hualu projects; the basic engineering design for these projects was completed, but due to various reasons, both projects came to a standstill and were not able to progress any further. Does this signing between Sinopec and East China University of Science and Technology mean that Sinopec is starting to prepare to introduce this technology within its own organization? I heard that the Dongtan Nitrogen Plant is planning to adopt this technology as a backup furnace for the SHELL furnaces.

It is not known whether CNOOC was already aware of this information in advance; in order to build the first demonstration project using the Dongfang furnace in China and obtain first-hand data, the Hualu project has now been restarted. The difference between them and Fengxi’s water-cooled walls with single nozzles lies in the coal preparation system – one is for drying pulverized coal, while the other is for using water-coal slurry. It seems that the design with single-nozzle water-cooled walls is becoming popular these days.
