Can carbon arc gas gouging be used on stainless steel?

This post was last edited by zhuli110 on 2011-8-22 at 16:19. When manufacturing stainless steel storage tanks, can carbon arc gas gouging be used to create bevels on the stainless steel sheets? Some craftsmen say it’s possible, while others claim that a specialized grinding machine is necessary for this task. Our sheets are 5 millimeters thick – in what situations is carbon arc gas gouging generally used?

5mm stainless steel sheets do not require carbon planing.
Since carbon planers generate a high amount of energy during the welding process, this can easily cause deformation of the steel plate; it is best to use a beveling machine to create bevels on the steel plate before rolling it
