Our factory has a 3.2m two-part furnace that has been in operation for over 8 years. Currently, there is severe leakage in the horizontal brick gas channels. I would like to ask the experts: can these horizontal brick gas channels be repaired by spraying? How to carry out spray repair? We also approached several teams specialized in coke oven maintenance, and after examining the situation they all said that spraying repair material into the horizontal brick gas channels could easily block the vertical brick gas channels as well, so none of them dared to do it.

Is the area of leakage large? The directed spray repair method can be used, that is, spraying is carried out only at the areas where leakage occurs. A steel pipe is placed inside the horizontal brick gas duct, with an opening left at the area that needs repair; then a spraying machine is inserted into that area to apply the spray material. However, it’s easier said than done.
It can be sprayed and repaired: 1. Spray and repair in the downward airflow, and close the addition and reduction valves. 2. Unscrew the thread plugs of the vertical flue and the adjacent flue risers, block the branch pipes with rags, and open the control valves. 3. Keep the spray repair air pressure at 0.8 Mpa. Be careful not to spray slurry into the vertical flue, and also pay attention to whether the slurry enters adjacent flues. 4. After the spray repair is completed, use a long steel rod to pierce through the brick gas duct, and then close the inlet and outlet valves. Remove the rag blocking the small branch pipe and check whether mud has entered the small branch pipe and the cross pipe; the inner diameter of the brick gas duct must not decrease after this.
