Operation of Anqing Petrochemical Shell gasifier sets new world record

As of August 22, the gasification unit at Sinopec Anqing Petrochemical has achieved continuous operation at Class A level for 138 days, breaking the world record of 137.2 days set by a NUON plant in the Netherlands in 2006 and establishing the best operating performance for such units worldwide. Since the commissioning of the gasification unit on November 29, 2006, Anqing Petrochemical has organized 7 large-scale technical efforts to successfully master the core technologies related to the installation and operation of Shell’s gasification units, and to improve upon them. Especially in the field of research and development aimed at localizing equipment, domestic production of such components has been successfully achieved in various projects, including the burners used in gasification units, coal burners, flame shields for burners, and silicon carbide coatings. In terms of innovation in production process optimization, extensive experience has been gained in areas such as the confirmation sheet for starting up gasification units, the management of the quality of coal used as feedstock in these units, and measures to prevent clogging in the gasifiers; this experience has been widely applied to similar units.
