On the gas-liquid reaction of syngas

Do all gas-liquid reactions require an N-shaped bend at the gas inlet, and must this N-shaped bend be above the height of the reactor?
1. From the perspective of plant piping, the pipes are generally connected to the reactor at the interface located at the upper part of the tank. 2. In gas-liquid reactions, pressure is usually involved; adding an N-bend does not serve any purpose even if it is placed at a higher level than the reactor. I work on gas-liquid reactions as well (methylhydrodichlorosilane and trifluoropropene), as well as the polymerization of hexafluoropropene.
I think the function of the fake N-shaped bend is to prevent liquid from spilling due to pressure fluctuations during the reaction
