What is an anti-cavitation valve? What are its special features? Does anyone have information on its working principle and structural diagram? Share it!
In a high vacuum environment, the saturated vapor pressure of water, which serves as the working fluid, is extremely low; under such vacuum conditions and temperature levels, the water inside the water ring pump turns into steam. High vacuum can lead to severe cavitation (the impeller becomes honeycombed in structure). An anti-cavitation valve introduces a stream of vapor to the impeller, thereby preventing cavitation effectively. Basically, all water ring pumps are equipped with or have a connection point for an anti-cavitation valve.
Reply to 2# pluto500: Where exactly is it to be installed? Could you draw a simple diagram? If the valve is opened, does it become connected to the atmosphere, and then close automatically once the desired vacuum level is reached? Can such a systematic vacuum still meet the requirements?
Based on the information provided on the 2nd floor, I assume that this valve connects directly to the port designated for the water ring vacuum pump; if the diameter matches the flange standards, a direct connection is possible, otherwise an additional section of pipe is needed for connection.
