Our plant has a 60,000-ton zinc concentrate flue gas acid production system. Since the beginning of this year, the exhaust gas has been emitting blue smoke. The concentration, temperature, and volume of the acid produced are all normal, as is the conversion rate; the acid separator has also been found to be in good condition. What could be the other reasons for the blue smoke in the exhaust gas? Has anyone else encountered this situation? I would be extremely grateful if all the experts could help!
Check the SO2 content in the exhaust gases. Where is the sampling point for measuring the secondary conversion rate? Can the conversion rate still reach over 99.5% even when smoke is emitted? It’s best to take pictures of the shape of the smoke, as the smoke emitted from the exhaust is complex and isn’t necessarily caused by a single factor
From what you’ve described, it seems that the sulfur dioxide levels in the exhaust are too high, which is why blue smoke is being emitted. Check the conversion rate metrics for each segment.
For the first floor, it should be two rotations and two absorptions without exhaust gas recovery – what is the overall conversion rate? What is the concentration of sulfur dioxide gas?
The smoke is likely to be SO2; it’s necessary to measure the conversion rates at each stage, as well as the SO2 concentration at the outlet of each stage and at the exhaust emission point. There is also a possibility of leaks in the heat exchangers, so it’s important to rule out all possible causes!
