Who has filled David’s synthetic tower catalyst? It’s the type where water flows through pipes and the catalyst is located outside. How to ensure even catalyst loading, without any areas being unsupported or offset? How do I install it? The catalyst between the closely spaced tubes is very difficult to install.

Find a specialized company for catalyst loading – they have professional equipment and instruments to ensure that the catalyst is loaded properly and without any errors. If you really want to do it yourself, the process will be slow; moreover, it’s necessary to sieve the catalyst powder, and after each amount of catalyst is added, its height and pressure drop need to be measured, with any imbalances having to be corrected. I’m not sure if you have ever used a tubular synthesis tower before After installing a section, insert the measurement port of this instrument into the pipe opening, and then pressure drop can be measured; the results are quite accurate. By measuring each pipe, it is possible to determine whether there is any flow deviation. I’ve never used the method you mentioned of allowing water to flow inside the tube while filling the outside with catalyst, but the principle should be the same; there are probably specialized instruments for this purpose as well.

Filling the catalyst is not very difficult; careful attention will do. Firstly, each column catalyst has a designed bulk density, which is the most important parameter; filling should be carried out as closely as possible in accordance with this bulk density. Secondly, it is possible to omit the use of 1 meter or 0.5 meter worth of catalyst; by dropping a weight using a plumb line at the same horizontal level, 20–30 points should be selected (evenly distributed and representative) to measure the vertical height from the top of the tower. This ensures that the catalyst is distributed evenly, thereby preventing uneven flow in the future. This process is relatively slow. Our production capacity is 580,000 tons per year; it took us 3 days and 3 nights to install the catalysts. Moreover, we ordered 5% more catalyst than was actually needed, and it was all filled in. This ensures that even if the installation is not perfectly uniform in some areas, the overall volume is sufficient to prevent any impact on production. It appears that the catalyst performs stably, with no issues such as flow deviation
