Is it necessary to install a level high/low interlock for liquid ammonia spheres? Are there any specific regulations in this regard? Thank you!
Sinopec has regulations; the poster can take a look at the requirements for the installation of liquefied hydrocarbon spheres. I don’t seem to have seen any national standards
GB 50160-2008 \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises\" 6.3.10 Storage tanks for liquid ammonia shall be equipped with level gauges, pressure gauges, and safety valves; Low-temperature liquid ammonia storage tanks should also be equipped with temperature indicators. 6.3.11 Liquid hydrocarbon storage tanks shall be equipped with level gauges, thermometers, pressure gauges, safety valves, as well as high-level alarms and automatic interlock shutdown mechanisms for extremely high levels to cut off feeding. Fullly frozen liquefied hydrocarbon storage tanks should also be equipped with vacuum relief facilities and high/low temperature monitoring, and should be connected to an automatic control system.
I also want to ask everyone how they usually do it? Will there be issues with the safety inspection if no liquid level interlock shutdown is installed?
There’s no problem with this; it is necessary to install a local level gauge as well as an automatic control level gauge. The automatic control level gauge should be equipped with an upper limit alarm, which should be linked to the feed cut-off valve.
