During today’s testing of the centrifugal booster, with a designed inlet flow rate of 50,000, a high-frequency whistling sound was detected from the outlet heat exchanger of stage 1. Check that there are no leaks in the inlet and outlet pipelines, and that no cooling water is present in the low-point discharge system. The vibration of the heat exchanger housing is not significant compared to that of level 2 and level 3 heat exchangers. The heat exchanger has excellent heat transfer performance. I would like to ask everyone, what could be the reason for such noises coming from the heat exchanger?
It is estimated that the airflow pulsation frequency resonates with the natural frequency of the heat exchanger.
My guess is that it’s caused by a leakage in the separation seal between the cold side and the hot side of the heat exchanger. I wonder if there are any other opinions? Please help analyze it
Is there throttling at the inlet of the primary heat exchanger?
It is likely the sound caused by throttling or flow pulsations at the orifice plate.

My primary outlet leads directly into the heat exchanger; there are no orifice plates or throttle valves
