For pipelines of semi-water gas as well, why is the pipeline before the scrubber made of stainless steel, while the one after the scrubber is made of carbon steel? The pressure won’t differ much. Is it due to temperature? But the temperature difference isn’t that large either, right?
It is still from the perspective of cost savings. You are referring to the outer tube of the syngas, right? Since the length of these outer tubes is considerable, using stainless steel results in higher costs; therefore, some manufacturers opt for carbon steel. However, if possible, it is still better to choose stainless steel.
Is it because, after passing through the scrubber tower, the acidic components in the mixture are essentially gone, allowing carbon steel pipelines to be used throughout the design life cycle?
