The air-cooling tower is severely fouled; there is insufficient contact between the air and water inside the tower, resulting in localized flow deviations that raise the temperature of the air exiting the tower, thereby creating a large temperature difference with the temperature of the chilled water ;

Generally, a difference of two degrees between the temperature in the air-cooled tower and the temperature of the cold water is already quite significant; this is not a problem with the cold water itself. It’s because the amount of water in the external circulation at normal temperature is insufficient; as a result, the gas stays in the air-cooling tower for a short time, leading to inadequate heat exchange. I’ve calculated that it’s difficult for water to remove the heat from the gas, and cooling is only possible by using large amounts of water, with normal-temperature water playing a significant role in this process.
It is recommended that the original poster provide a detailed description of the problem; otherwise, there could be many reasons. The possible causes are analyzed as follows: First, check the temperature trend of the air outlet cooling system. If the temperature rises suddenly, check whether there is something wrong with the thermometer. If it rises gradually over a short period of time (a few hours), check whether the amount of air used in processing has increased, as well as whether the flow rates of the circulating water and chilled water, as well as their temperatures, are normal. If the temperature difference gradually increases over a long period of time after the air separation unit starts operating, and the temperatures and flow rates of the process air, circulating water, and chilled water are all normal, it is likely that there is scaling in the air cooling tower. At this time, it is necessary to check whether the resistance of the air-cooled tower has increased, and whether there are low-temperature crystals in the filter before the chilled water pump. If it reaches a high level as soon as the machine is started, it might be a design or manufacturing issue; the packing or sieve plates may not have been installed properly. Seek the manufacturer’s assistance for an inspection during the warranty period.
