The methanol production project with an annual capacity of 850,000 tons, which is a key project under Chongqing’s jurisdiction and was established with the aim of developing the natural gas chemical industry, revitalizing the economy in the Three Gorges reservoir area, and creating a national hub for the chemical industry, has seen good progress in all aspects of its work since construction began on December 7, 2009. With a total investment of 2.355 billion yuan, this project is the **last set of natural gas-to-methanol plants approved for construction, and it is also the largest such facility of its kind in China at present. The installation of machinery is expected to be completed by December this year, after which it will enter the testing phase, with full operation set to begin in March next year.
