We’ve installed a new unit, and I found it interesting that the pump and motor are matched in such a way: the pump’s rated speed is 2480 rpm, while the motor’s rated speed is 2450 rpm. Has anyone seen something like this before? Let’s discuss!
This is a very common thing; generally, the speed of the motor is used as the reference, as centrifugal pumps have an optimal operating range. As long as they operate within this optimal range under rated conditions, that’s sufficient.

Why are the speeds 2450 and 2480 revolutions per minute? Is it an inverter-driven motor? A 2-stage motor usually has a speed of 2900 revolutions per minute, while a 4-stage motor has a speed of 1450 revolutions per minute
Reply to 1# jzs6699: Such a configuration is not common, but it can still be used. The rated speed of the motor does not exceed that of the pump; it’s simply the case that the pump has a lower flow rate, and this configuration can be used in special situations
If the rotation speeds of the pump and the motor are different, it is likely to affect the performance of the pump and may have an impact on subsequent processes.
