Looking at GB50235, it specifies the distance between longitudinal welds as well as the minimum distance between circumferential welds, but I cannot find any requirements regarding the distance between openings and circumferential welds. Does anyone know if there are such requirements, and in which standard they can be found? Thank you
Standard GB50235-2010 specifies that the distance from a pipe weld to the edge of an opening in a branch pipe or pipe fitting should be no less than 50 mm, and it should also be no less than the diameter of the opening.
The distance from the edge of the opening to the weld shall not be less than 50 mm, nor shall it be less than the size of the opening. Code for Construction of Industrial Metal Piping Projects GB50235-2010, Article 6.0.2, Clause 3
It is specified to be no less than 50, and the pipeline should undergo heat treatment up to 100. However, we generally require a minimum of 150

Refer to page 344 of Song Kekē’s \"National Pressure Pipeline Design and Engineering Examples, 2nd Edition\", and page 191 of Zhang Dejiang’s \"Textbook for National Pressure Pipeline Design Approval Personnel, 2nd Edition\": \"It is not advisable to make holes or attach connections at the welds and edges of pipelines.\" When it is unavoidable, holes can be made in the weld after strength verification. ”----Therefore, there is no necessary or mandatory requirement regarding the distance between the opening and the circumferential weld; the opening can be as close to the weld as desired, as long as the strength verification is satisfied. And there are standard requirements for the two welds.
