Which sea friend can translate this sentence? When it is difficult to maintain a filled reference leg in impulse lines, (e.g. in vacuum systems), a dry or gas-purged reference leg shall be used. What does that reference leg mean? I would appreciate some guidance.

First of all, the concept of a reference electrode doesn’t apply at all, as it is merely a term used in analytical instruments (such as pH meters). It is estimated that when using differential pressure to measure level, a wet tube is sometimes employed – that is, the pressure transducer tube is filled with a certain medium, which can be either the process medium or another type of medium. This is done to prevent condensation from entering the pressure chamber. When measuring differential pressure in vacuum systems, since vacuum draws air inward, a wet tube is clearly not suitable; therefore, a dry tube must be used. Moreover, in vacuum conditions, the pressure transducer tube may get blocked or covered with polymers, so a pressure transducer tube with gas backflow (nitrogen, compressed air) is required to prevent blockages.
