The word “skid” is often seen on pig launcher and receiver units. I don’t know what it means. For example, the following: complete skid instrumentation (such as pressure gauges, temperature gauges, pig signaller) in accordance with ITEM 1. Structural steel support skid suitable for relocating the package per data sheet. All necessary on-skid piping, pipe supports, terminated with flanges, with an option for clamp-type interface connection at the skid edge in accordance with ITEM 1.
The original meaning of “skid” is to slide; when applied in articles, you can expand on this concept
