Precautions for starting and stopping screw compressors

What is the compressed medium? Different media have different requirements.

1 Starting the generator set 1.1 Once the preparatory work is completed, the process can proceed to the starting phase. Starting is carried out on-site. Once powered on, it can be started if everything is normal. 1.2 Start the oil pump. 1.3 Start the main engine; after a few seconds of operation, open the inlet gate valve and the make-up water valve at the nozzle. If the fluid supply valve is opened first, delayed startup may occur, and excessive fluid entry into the machine could lead to difficulties in starting it. Once the unit is started, operators should pay attention to observing the following aspects: whether the starting current exceeds ； Are the readings of the pressure gauge and thermometer normal? ； Are there any abnormal noises or vibrations in the various mechanical components? ； Check whether there is any air, oil, or water leakage in the various pipelines and connections. If there are any problems or faults, the stop button should be pressed immediately. If the unit is in good condition, it can immediately proceed to continuous no-load testing. At this time, both the bypass valve and the outlet stop valve are in the fully open position. Run at no load for 2 hours, while recording data every half hour. 2 Pressurized operation: If pressurization starts from a stopped state, follow the steps below. 2.1 Start the compressor. 2.2 Slowly close the bypass valve and the discharge stop valve to increase the compressor’s outlet pressure. The first pressure increase must be carried out in three steps, with the net increase in pressure for each step being one-third of the rated pressure (or rated pressure difference). Stabilize for 30 minutes, adjust the cooling water volume to control the exhaust temperature, observe carefully, and gradually increase the pressure to the specified value. If possible, factory technicians should be present during the first voltage increase. 2.3 Be careful to avoid accidents caused by opening or closing the valve too quickly. 2.4 Under the specified pressure, operate continuously for 4 hours, during which relevant data shall be recorded every 0.5 hours. 2.5 After 4 hours of operation, increase the exhaust pressure further to the pressure at which the safety valve opens, in order to conduct a safety valve testing. 2.6 During normal operation after the first pressure increase, the pressure can rise slowly and directly to the specified value; the other operating steps and requirements remain the same as those mentioned earlier. 3 Parking 3.1 Fully open the bypass valve. 3.2 Stop the main motor. 3.3 Completely close the intake valve and exhaust valve. 3.4 Turn the compressor manually by a few degrees after it stops. 3.5 Close the make-up valve. 3.6 Precautions when shutting down the compressor. 3.6.1 The oil pump stops rotating 20 minutes after shutdown. 3.6.2 When the compressor is shut down, the liquid in the compression chamber should be drained promptly to prevent stalling when the compressor is restarted. 3.6.3 Drain all cooling water from the system or maintain an appropriate flow rate to prevent sediment accumulation or freezing in cold weather.
