In hydrogen production units using coker dry gas, after a lightning strike, the blowers and exhaust fans tend to stop operating. As a result, this causes an interlock in the converter. In our approach, we isolate the hydrogenation reactor and then initiate a large-scale circulation. However, at this point there is still some coker dry gas in the system, which may contain sulfur; could this be harmful to the conversion catalyst? But if the hydrogenation reactor is not used, will there be CO and CO2 in the recycle gas? Will methanation reactions occur... ugh……
If all the interlocks are activated, activating the interlock of the converter will trigger a series of other interlocks, such as those of the heating furnace. Also, both S and N in your feed gas can cause poisoning of the converter catalyst. The poisoning caused by S and N is a exothermic adsorption reaction; as a result, even if the compressor continues to operate, the decrease in temperature of the converter facilitates catalyst poisoning! For the reactor section, in my opinion, you should isolate the conversion system: the flow goes from the compressor to the reactor, then to the start-up gas line, to the start-up gas tank, and finally back to the compressor via the feed gas tank.
