When performing welding work in chemical plants or hazardous areas, it is necessary to establish a safety zone and remove any flammable or explosive materials from the surrounding area. Acetylene and oxygen cylinders must be placed at a distance of at least 10 meters from the welding site, with a distance of at least 5 meters between the two cylinders. So, must acetylene and oxygen cylinders be placed within the safety zone, or can they be placed outside it? Is there any sea friend who is familiar with the regulations and can answer?
When performing welding work in chemical plants or hazardous areas, according to the classification provisions of the \"Safety Specifications for Welding Operations in Chemical Production Units\" (AQ3022-2008), it should be classified as Level 1 or special welding work. According to clause 5.1.4 of this standard, any combustible materials within 15 meters of the area where hot work is being carried out must be removed; in other words, the safety zone should be a 15-meter radius area centered on the point where the hot work takes place. The distance between the gas cylinder and the area where welding is carried out only needs to be at least 10 meters; therefore, it is reasonable to assume that the gas cylinder can be placed within the safety zone. Of course, it would be better if it could be placed outside the police cordon.
The tools and equipment required for hot work should generally be located within the work safety zone! In particular, oxygen cylinders and acetylene cylinders are themselves sources of danger.
The two people upstairs have different opinions – is it necessary to keep them inside, or is it acceptable to have them either inside or at a specified distance away? I tend to agree with the view from the third floor: gas cylinders are inherently hazardous sources, so they should definitely be kept inside. But is there any regulation specifying this?
I support the view from the third floor. The exclusion zone should be drawn large enough to include the gas cylinders as well. Additionally, it is stipulated here that the tubing at the outlet of the oxygen cylinder pressure regulator must not be tied up. I seem to have seen this rule somewhere before. Does anyone have a clear statement?

I think it should be placed within the cordon. Firstly, the area where welding is carried out has been subjected to a hazard analysis, and it is under controlled conditions. Safety measures for gas cylinders are included. Secondly, compared to the areas inside and outside the relative safety zone, the risk level outside the zone should be higher than that inside the zone, which is the opposite of the situation in lifting operations (where the risk inside the zone is higher than outside). Therefore, I believe gas cylinders should be placed inside the zone.
Gas cylinders are placed within the warning line, as they are themselves pressure vessels and can be considered sources of danger. The purpose of the warning line is to isolate this danger and prevent people from entering that area. From this perspective, they are located within the warning line.
Reply to 5# Guangguang Tangtang: This is controversial, as tying the bottle opening can prevent the rubber tube from being pulled out in an emergency; that’s the reason.
A warning zone serves to alert people to potential hazards, and oxygen and acetylene cylinders themselves are considered hazardous sources; therefore, I believe that these cylinders should be placed within a warning zone.
Since there is an open flame, is it within the perimeter area or outside it? It’s easy to understand – isn’t it one of the three elements of a fire?
