How long does one have to work in this field to be considered experienced?

I have been working in the field of organic chemistry for eight years; although I have risen to a project management position, the salary offered during interviews is over 80,000 per year. I’m not sure whether such a salary is considered good “Major in Chemical Engineering and Technology, with over 8 years of experience in organic chemical engineering, and experience in new project construction. ”
