Dear colleagues, I am facing difficulties in designing the reinforcement ring used to reinforce the openings in the circumferential transition joints of cylindrical structures. I don’t know what shape the development diagram of this reinforcement ring should have, nor how to design it (draw it on paper). I would like to ask everyone how they handle such situations. What about the reinforcement rings on the elliptical head?
As a rough approximation, lofting can only provide an approximate result; after all, it’s an elliptical head

This type of reinforcing ring is spread evenly along the perimeter width at the junction line between the pipe fitting and the cylinder. Two views are used in the drawing: 1) a circumferential sectional view of the cylinder, in which the thickness is indicated along the outer surface of the cylinder; 2) a view showing the even distribution along the outer arc length in the longest and shortest directions of the pipe fitting; 2. Axial sectional view of the cylinder or view showing the intersection lines, with the view reflecting the ellipse in this case.

I just consulted an expert, and it turns out that when a three-dimensional surface is unfolded, it does consist of two ellipses, one above and one below; so that’s how the unfolded diagram should be drawn. However, the reinforcement ring for elliptical end caps has not been tested yet; if anyone knows about it, please share some information
