On September 5, 2011, the methanol scrubber for Yankuang Xinjiang Coal Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 600,000 tons per year alcohol-ammonia co-production project was successfully lifted using a 1,000-ton crawler crane. The tower is 66.5 meters tall, 3 meters in diameter, and weighs 480 tons. It is the tallest facility in Urumqi’s coal chemical industry, as well as the tallest tower in the Ganquanbao Industrial Park in Urumqi.
This tower is likely the methanol scrubber used in the low-temperature methanol process for methanol production; given its height, it doesn’t seem to be a methanol scrubber used in the low-temperature methanol process for ammonia synthesis.
