Firstly, the Building Code classifies transformers as buildings with fire resistance ratings of Class I or II, and the fire separation distance between combustible waste dumps and transformers can be determined in accordance with Article 4.5.2 of the Building Code.
Where can I find the provision in the Building Code that classifies buildings as having fire resistance ratings of Class 1 or 2 based on transformers? I couldn’t find it
Article 4.5.2 specifies the fire protection distance between combustible waste dumps and transformers.
3.4.11 For outdoor substations and distribution stations with a power system voltage of 35–500 kV and a transformer capacity of over 10 MVA, as well as outdoor step-down substations in industrial enterprises whose total oil volume in transformers is greater than 5 tons, the fire separation distance from buildings shall not be less than the requirements specified in Articles 3.4.1 and 3.5.1 of these specifications. Table 4.5.1 Fire separation distances between open or semi-open storage areas for flammable materials and buildings. Note: The fire separation distances between open or semi-open storage areas for materials such as straw, wheat straws, reeds, and packed waste paper, and between such areas and Class A factories (warehouses) as well as civil buildings, shall be increased by 25% according to the fire resistance rating of the buildings, in accordance with the provisions of this table; such distances shall not be less than 25.0 m ; The fire separation distance from outdoor substation and distribution stations should not be less than 50.0 m ;
