In our plant, the water quality of the second set of circulating water systems does not meet the standards; parameters such as residual chlorine are also out of spec, and corrosion on the carbon steel test pieces is quite severe
If the quality of the circulating water does not meet the standards, the issue lies with the water treatment equipment; is there a problem with the chemicals added or with the flocculation process? If the quality of the circulating water is poor, it must be replaced with fresh water; otherwise, it will cause corrosion of the equipment
If the residual chlorine level is not within the specified range, it can cause chloride corrosion; however, it generally does not have an immediate effect on the test plates – it’s more likely that there will be leakage in the heat exchanger first. Make sure that your hanging rack device doesn’t stop supplying water from time to time; rust that accumulates in the area where the rack is fixed can fall onto the rack itself, and large amounts of rust can form within just two days. Think back: is the rust on the hanging piece present on both sides? If it’s only on one side or in just one area, it’s probably not caused by water quality issues; corrosion resulting from water quality usually appears in the form of lumps.
