Currently, there are many general-purpose resins produced via continuous polymerization, such as PP, PE, ABS, and so on. In the PVC industry, however, only emulsion-based methods for producing paste resins utilize continuous polymerization processes; this is a significant drawback for this industry. General-purpose resins are manufactured using batch processes, which results in low production capacity and the need for numerous pieces of equipment – another drawback of PVC production. If continuous polymerization could be employed, production capacity could increase several times over compared to batch processes, using the same volume of equipment! So why isn’t continuous polymerization used in PVC production? Or why not conduct research in this area? PVC experts are welcome to join the discussion.
General-purpose PVC resins require a relatively high viscosity number, and it is not possible to produce qualified resin of a single grade using the continuous process
Reply to 2# Canghai Mingyue Gong Chao Sheng: In fact, there is already a continuous production process for paste resin. Currently, research is being conducted on a continuous process for suspension-polymerized polyvinyl chloride; it is hoped that industrial-scale production can be achieved.

Reply 1#: What was mentioned by qxs181818 on the second floor is one of the reasons; however, the main issue is that during the suspension polymerization process used in the production of general-purpose resin, due to chemical and physical factors, a small amount of PVC resin adheres to the walls of the polymerization reactor, the surfaces of its internal components, as well as the pipes and valves through which the reaction materials pass. This affects the uniformity of the resin quality and the efficiency of the equipment, which is why suspension polymerization for general-purpose resin is still primarily carried out on a batch basis.
