Why do porous organic materials such as wood and coke soaked in liquid oxygen explode?
Wood and coke are flammable substances in themselves; when soaked in liquid oxygen, it’s no wonder they explode
Pure oxygen has a strong oxidizing property; substances that do not cause fires or explosions in normal air can burn or explode in an environment with pure oxygen, and there are many such accident cases.
That’s how I understand it: once liquid oxygen has penetrated the combustible material, it will catch fire upon impact or exposure to a flame. Due to the porous nature of this material, the combustion is intense, and as the material expands as a result of this combustion, an explosion occurs. I’m an amateur – I’m not sure if this is correct

Reply to 5# yzkingsoft: I was just guessing too; I’m here to get things verified. Because it is a substance with both positive and negative properties, combustion does not occur only on the surface but starts from within the pores; as the substance expands at a rapid rate, an explosion occurs
