Recently, PVDF pipes have been installed at the construction site. These pipes are flexible, and the valves installed on them (mainly diaphragm heads and actuators) as well as the flow meters (mass flow meters) are relatively heavy, making it difficult to provide proper support for them. Some people suggested installing the supports on the flanges, but experts disagreed, as doing so would affect the pipe’s ability to expand and contract. Experts present, could you please offer some advice on how to support valves and flow meters installed in horizontal pipes, as well as those installed in vertical pipes? We need a solution that can handle the weight while also allowing for some degree of expansion and contraction.

Valves and flow meters equipped with diaphragm heads and actuators are relatively heavy in weight. Even when used in carbon steel pipelines, supports are generally required during installation to prevent stress from being applied to the pipeline system; therefore, this is even more necessary in your case. But as for exactly how to add them, I think it’s necessary to adapt the approach to the specific situation; efforts should be made to install the supports on the valve body itself rather than on the flanges. Additionally, horizontal support is required to prevent the valve body from tilting, which could otherwise cause axial torque in the pipelines.

Reply to 3#: The advantage is that it can support the valve body or the flow meter itself. But how should the stresses in the axial direction of the pipeline be taken into account? The valve body and the flow meter itself are irregular in structure; they aren’t like pipelines, which can have guiding supports.
Is your pipeline long? If not, there is no need to consider the axial linear expansion (since your pipeline is not made of carbon steel). If it is long enough, bends can be used to compensate for the linear expansion.
Reply to 6#: The advantage is that its length isn’t very long. The main reason is that the material used is quite special – it’s PVDF, and it’s imported, so extra care is taken. Once it’s installed, it cannot be disassembled; it’s welded in one go
Reply to 7# zccchunchen: PVDF pipes have exceptional flexibility, as well as very high resistance to swelling and impact strength. So generally, bending does not affect performance; it only affects the appearance.
Reply to 8#: Advantages? Well, I’m not sure. As for the support for irregular flow meters and control valves, I’m not aware of how it’s usually done; it doesn’t seem to be covered in the standard catalogs
Actually, I think it’s more appropriate to place the bracket below the valve body. And not apply it to the flange.
Yes, that’s true, but you can make brackets based on the shape of the valve, something like a mold. Fix the valve to it. And ensure it is horizontal and vertical. Then fix the bracket
