Why should the branch pipes on the torch main pipe be connected at an angle of 45° to the main pipe, in line with the flow direction of the medium?

An inclination facilitates the flow of gas into the flare line, preventing backflow; Avoid allowing vent gases to impact the torch line directly ; Entering from above can effectively prevent fluid accumulation ;
The key is to reduce impact and lower resistance
What about inserting it vertically from above, ignoring height considerations?

I think there are two reasons: First, as everyone should know, the main torch pipe is sloped, leading toward the vent tank. The pressure in the vent main is very low; the liquid flows from the higher points to the vent tank due to its own weight. The branch pipes are connected to the main pipe at an angle of 45° along the flow direction of the fluid, in order to avoid interfering with the natural flow of the condensate. Secondly, many branch pipes originate from safety valves; if they are connected to the main pipe at a 90° angle, there is an issue of reactive force acting on the branch pipes. And a 45° miter joint can **reduce this generating force. Just my personal opinion!
