In what form does phosphorus exist in raw water? If it is phosphate, it can be removed by precipitation with PAC during the pretreatment stage. If it is organophosphorus, the biochemical phosphorus removal unit needs to be enhanced, and the issue can be addressed by controlling parameters such as influent B/P, sludge age, and excess sludge concentration time.
Try adding nanofiltration or reverse osmosis
PAC is not very effective for phosphorus removal; coagulation using iron salts yields better results. For phosphorus levels above 3 ppm, a combination of biochemical and physicochemical methods yields better treatment results.
The water volume is not large; if it is to be reused or contains other chemical substances that are difficult to remove, a filter and nanofiltration unit can be installed. Before passing the water through the filter, some flocculant or lime water can be added to protect the nanofiltration equipment. Economics need to be taken into account. I wonder how the original poster’s biochemical treatment works for water quality.
