I would like to ask the experienced colleagues: when the exhaust emits white smoke and a wood stick test shows black spots on it, is it acid mist or acid foam? What is the difference between acid mist and acid foam?
Reply to 1# Xidu Kid: The white smoke is acid mist (personal opinion; feedback is welcome). Both acid foam and acid mist consist essentially of sulfuric acid. Acid foam is generally formed when sulfuric acid sprayed from the acid separation unit in tower equipment comes into contact with the packing, resulting in small droplets that are carried away by the air flow; these droplets have a relatively large size and can be removed using conventional foam capture devices. ~& u1 k7 V7 t7 g Acid mist is generally formed by tiny sulfuric acid droplets that result from the combination of sulfur trioxide, after it has been rapidly cooled in a purification or absorption device, with water vapor. It is difficult to be absorbed, and specialized equipment such as electrostatic demisters is generally required to remove it completely.

Generally speaking, particles larger than 10 microns are mist, while those smaller than 10 microns are fog. Larger fog particles strike the wooden strips, causing black spots. Within a certain exposure time, the number and size of the black spots serve as indicators of the presence of acid mist. Please upload a photo for specific details.
