The company’s discharge pipe (with a freezing point above 100°C) is connected to a movable tank using a flexible metal hose. Since some employees fail to clean it thoroughly after discharging the material, residual substances often cause the hose to freeze. Is there any effective way to solve this problem? Is the hose too small? Our company uses DN80 for material discharge, and nitrogen is used for purging; however, the medium in question is lactam, with a freezing point of 69 degrees. Compared to ours, we can use a larger size – DN100 is also an option. Even if the pipe is large and not completely cleaned during purging, there will still be pathways through which flow is possible, allowing it to melt quickly. Is steam purging being used? The hoses should be arranged vertically as much as possible to minimize horizontal sections, which facilitates purging.
After use, lift the hose to allow the material inside it to flow into the equipment.
Those used for loading are generally larger than DN65, right? It can’t be an issue with the diameter size! You can try to take the following approaches: 1. Strengthen the management and job requirements for this position ; 2. If the materials in your facility do not react or pose a risk when in contact with steam and water, steam purging can be used, followed by the recovery of the remaining materials! 3. A square cut can be made in the shorting connection of the hose, so as to drain any remaining material after each pouring ; 4. If improvements are not made from the perspective of on-site operation, a metal hose with a jacket can be used for steam heating. But it is also best to keep the hose at an appropriate angle in order to drain the material completely.
