Standardized diesel with viscosity reduction, formulated on-site; it has a density of 0.85 upon purchase and is suitable for use in vehicles. After being stored for a few days, the temperature dropped by over 10 degrees, and the density became 0.866. Will this prevent the vehicle from using this diesel? (The freezing point is fine; it’s negative.)

Has the color changed? For diesel fuel used in vehicles, the freezing point is the key factor to consider. As the density increases, does the freezing point also change? Storage can only cause oxidation issues; there’s no problem with color. What remains is the cetane number, which determines the fuel’s resistance to combustion. As long as the color doesn’t change, there’s no need to worry about selling it.

It doesn’t matter if it’s for personal use, but if it’s to be sold, then standard tests such as those for flash point and cetane number will likely be required.
