This post was last edited by 1025199692 on 2011-9-25 at 12:52. Our carbon dioxide compressor (Shanghai Dalong 4M32G(II)186/146) developed cracks again after three months of operation following the replacement of its five-stage cylinder liners; what could be the reasons?
1. Material quality 2. Loose cylinder liner 3. Poor concentricity of the cylinder, stuffing box, and crosshead 4. Excessive cylinder vibration 5. Design flaws and insufficient strength. The above are for reference only; a specific analysis is required based on the actual situation, as well as any abnormal phenomena that may occur during operation

It’s caused by the temperature difference; figure out the reason yourself.

Reply to 5# 1025199692: The cylinder and the cylinder liner cannot expand and contract thermally simultaneously. Is the cylinder cooling water supplied from a water station or is it recycled water? In some compressors, the cooling water in the cylinders must not drop below a certain temperature, in order to prevent liquids in the gas from precipitating out.
Reply to 6# wyf919: Our compressors are cooled by circulating water; the inlet water temperature is around 27 to 32°C. The inlet pressure at stage 5 is 6.8 MPA, while the outlet pressure is 14.5 MPA
It is not ruled out that hydraulic impact could be the cause
No sound was heard during operation; when we replaced the air valve, we found ring-shaped cracks that appeared within the piston’s stroke range
