I’m posting a thread here to summarize the key points that everyone should keep in mind when ensuring safe production during the summer. Wind protection: There are many strong convective weather conditions in summer, and wind is a significant factor. 1. Keep all work areas clean; remove items that are prone to being blown away by the wind, and secure any equipment or pipes that may fall off easily, such as valve handles. 2. Fix and restore any deformations or protrusions resulting from insulation issues on the equipment in areas prone to being affected by wind. 3. Check the wind vane to ensure its effective use in strong wind conditions. 4. During personnel inspections, areas prone to objects falling should be avoided. II. Flood control (moisture prevention, rain protection, water resistance) As summer arrives, rainfall increases significantly, causing inconvenience in production. 1. Check the insulation of electrical equipment to prevent electrical accidents caused by high air humidity. 2. Clean the drainage system to ensure smooth drainage and achieve separate flow for clean water and waste water. 3. Prepare flood control equipment to handle situations of abnormal drainage promptly. 4. Conduct flood prevention inspections on buildings to ensure their normal use during the rainy season. 5. Ensure the on-site electrical system is properly waterproofed. 6. Inspect the equipment manholes, inspection openings, and vent ports to prevent rainwater from entering. 7. Check for leaks to prevent rainwater from entering the wastewater stream and causing environmental incidents. III. Protection against lightning: Summer is a season with frequent lightning strikes, which can cause immeasurable losses. 1. Before the rainy season begins, conduct inspections of the device’s static grounding and lightning protection systems to ensure they are effective. 2. Proper protection must be in place for the exhaust of flammable and explosive substances. (Nitrogen displacement, steam fire suppression, etc.) 3. Develop a plan for dealing with fires caused by lightning strikes. 4. Correctly identify and promptly address failures and malfunctions of instruments and electrical systems caused by lightning strikes. Prepare a plan in advance. 5. Be careful to ensure safety during personnel inspections. Add a fourth item based on the response from the second floor: IV. Heat protection – The consistently high temperatures in summer pose difficulties for production. 1. The temperature of the circulating water is affected by air temperature, reaching its highest level of the year, which impacts the heat exchange in the entire process system; it is therefore necessary to closely monitor the process parameters of the whole system. Additionally, the evaporation rate of circulating water is high in summer; it is necessary to regularly monitor the water level in the circulation tank, top up water as needed, and at the same time maintain good quality of the circulating water. 2. Vacuum control of the evaporation system. 3. Regularly inspect the temperature of the pump bearings to measure both the temperature and the temperature rise. Pay attention to the motor’s cooling condition. 4. Take measures to protect workers from heat stress.

In hot weather, it is also necessary to check whether the pressure pipelines are under excessive pressure.

In the summer, when working on-site, many people wear short-sleeved shirts. In chemical production, many pipelines are equipped with low- and medium-pressure steam tracing. If the insulation comes off and the heat tracing pipeline becomes exposed, it can easily cause burns.
